Approx ¾ mile away lies Heptonstall, one of Yorkshire 's best preserved villages, with it's ancient church, 17 th century grammar school, museum and weavers cottage.

An entrance to Hard Castle Crags, one of the National Trusts most scenic properties is 100 yards away.

The Pennine Way crosses the moor behind the centre leading to Top Withins, the “ Wuthering Heights ” of Emily Bronte's Famous Novel. Bronte country is within easy reach, including Wycoler Hall, the “ Fern Dene Manor “ of “ Jane Eyre”

The Calderdale Way runs just to the south of the centre, and Popples Common immediately behind is available for recreational and relaxation activities.

An interesting village shop and garden centres are within easy reach.

The popular market town of Hebden Bridge with it's own railway station from which a local bus service operates to Slack is 2 miles away.
